Terms of Service
1. The deal
By downloading, installing, or using SideQuestr, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app. SideQuestr is operated by Samuel Schoettker as a solo developer (“we”, “us”).
2. Your account
You’re responsible for your account. Don’t share your credentials, don’t let other people post as you, and be honest about who you are. You must be at least 13 years old to use SideQuestr.
3. Acceptable use
Don’t use SideQuestr to:
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
- Post content that’s illegal, hateful, violent, sexually explicit, or otherwise violates the App Store guidelines.
- Spam, flood, or otherwise disrupt the experience for other users.
- Scrape, crawl, or reverse-engineer the app or its services.
- Impersonate anyone else, or misrepresent your affiliation with a business or place.
- Spoof your GPS to fake visits. Visit verification is core to the app — cheating it is grounds for immediate suspension.
4. Your content
You own what you upload — photos of spots, captions, reviews, everything. By uploading, you grant SideQuestr a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, distribute, and adapt that content solely for the purpose of operating and promoting the app. You can delete your content at any time and that license ends when you do.
5. Moderation
We may remove content that violates these Terms or the App Store guidelines, and we may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate them. We try to be reasonable but the final call is ours.
6. Third-party services
SideQuestr is built on top of Mapbox, Supabase, Google (Places and sign-in), and Apple (Sign in with Apple and the App Store). Your use of the app is also subject to those providers’ terms.
7. No warranty
SideQuestr is provided “as is” and “as available”. We don’t guarantee that spot information is accurate, that the service will be uninterrupted, or that every feature will work for every device. Use your own judgment when visiting places listed in the app.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, SideQuestr’s total liability to you for any claim arising from the app is limited to the greater of $100 USD or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. (SideQuestr is free, so that’s typically $0.) We’re not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
9. Termination
You can stop using SideQuestr and delete your account at any time. We can also suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (content license for already-distributed content, liability, governing law) survive.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Palm Beach County, Florida, and you consent to that venue.
